Christantus Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.
Despite entering their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Moment
This occasion provided a platform for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.
Control Established from the Outset
Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the protests.
The formerArsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.
The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
