Football Expert Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, however will the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' latest record, the new release, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Family Experiences

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, though. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season started, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

A family member told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six matches.

They have got plenty of quality in their squad but it still seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
