'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful shot from outside the box, and his teammate promptly converted the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to celebrate, with fans mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

This capped an incredible comeback given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the final 45 minutes. During the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to control and slow down a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It demands a tough attitude and focus just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At Orient he linked up again with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford City, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without serious challenge. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's single match for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he says, smiling. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a minibus driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with a teammate, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the guys but I'm planning to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. His teammate is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
