Sam Fender has given the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the trust for venues, which operates to save the UK's independent music venues.

He was awarded the cheque on 16 October as his latest record the album was chosen as the outstanding release of the past year.

Fender has decided to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the essential function local spots had in his initial steps.

"I personally would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the shows I played around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," stated Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these venues have ceased operations – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, major artists including the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by applying a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

He also took part, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money supported locations that were confronting possible closure due to difficulties stemming from flooding, blazes and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, court cases and neighbor objections.

Additional spaces received funding support in improving infrastructure and technical equipment that directly benefitted artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that funds from performances in big venues backs the independent spots, where it all starts for performers like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has said.

The musician is not the first artist to donate his honor prize money to good deeds.

When Pulp won the trophy in the mid-90s for their release Different Class, frontman Cocker announced that the act would give their cash to the non-profit War Child.

During 2002, artist she shared her bounty among several charities, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I contributed a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed updated gear," Ms Dynamite told outlets.

Previously, Ezra Collective gave their prize money to the community center that supported their act, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.

Also winners that year the group contributed their winnings to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the condition.

"Winning was ample," said vocalist the singer. "The cash was the cherry on top but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the honor. So our victory touched the lives of others."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust shared it had rescued several local spots in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The first in that area and The Croft in that location were bought under the public acquisition scheme, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
