Vinted Members Share Frustration Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
